PVC TREND – YAY OR NAY?

We already have too many trends to keep up with, some we never want to be associated with and some we can’t seem to get enough of. The PVC trend has mixed emotions, do we love it, do we hate it or does it depend on the particular style. Kim Kardashian West just received the very first CFDA fashion influencer award and when it comes to the PVC heel, she is the captain of that squad.

Kanye West’s fashion line Yeezy created some of the most outrageous PVC heel styles ever seen. From a wedge heel to a thigh-high PVC shoe. Some say your feet look like a steamed chicken in PVC heels while some find it perfect for the minimalist style. What side are you on?

Brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton have gone further to create PVC bags, jackets and hats. Street style and athleisure have really appreciated this particular trend. It comes in more than one colour, yellow, grey, red, you name it!

I think different strokes for different folks with this particular trend but at times it all depends on the mode of styling. This can be a casual or a dressy shoe, it can be worn with fishnet stockings to keep the steam away, the handbag can be the accessory you never knew you needed and the jacket can be the most fashion-forward raincoat you have ever owned. It all depends on your personal approach.

Instagram models and influencers have really gravitated to this trend, however most fashion-forward folks detest this trend. Fashion magazines have declared it quite uncomfortable. What side are you on? Is this hot or not? Do we want it to stay, we can’t wait for it to pass or are we wondering who came up with this crazy idea in the first place?
