Controversy: Celine Dion Ignored In Rolling Stone’s “200 Greatest Singers of All Time”

Celine Dion Ignored In Rolling Stone's "200 Greatest Singers

The omission of Celine Dion from Rolling Stone’s list of the “200 Greatest Singers of All Time” has drawn criticism from fans on social media. Yet, a complex voting technique was used to rank the list after it was compiled by 179 experts. Supporters of the artists who were turned away have, however, criticised the organisers. The controversial list left out more people than merely the Canadian superstar. John Farnham, Judy Garland, Madonna, Michael Hutchence, Tina Arena, Cher, and Kylie Minogue were all left off the list.

Why Rolling Stone omit Celine Dion from their list?

In an attempt to defend themselves, Rolling Stone posted a tweet that read, “Before you start scrolling (and commenting), keep in mind that this is the Greatest Singers list, not the Greatest Voices list.” “Talent is impressive; genius is transcendent.” They went on to say, “In all cases, what mattered most to us was originality, influence, the depth of an artist’s catalogue, and the breadth of their musical legacy.”  Subscribe for more latest news
