Francis Opiyo is a co-founder and CEO of 360 Nature Store Africa Ltd. a nature inspired art business Uganda’s business landscape offering high-quality, nature-inspired woodwork.
Hailing from Gulu in the northern part of Uganda, his path to entrepreneurship wasn’t linear. After completing his vocational training, he started work in the hospitality industry as a Barista, eventually becoming a bar supervisor.
In 2018, alongside his friend Mulindwa Raymond, Francis co-founded 360 Nature Store. Recognizing a gap in the market for innovative and functional wooden products, they channeled their passion for nature and design into a thriving business. Francis’ experience in the hospitality industry proved invaluable, as it honed his understanding of what customers seek in terms of quality and functionality.

Francis with his team have been creating a variety of wooden kitchenware however, “the Wooden boat bowl, “is their signature product . This product is a much loved product and goes well with serving Tilapia. Clients are always excited being served fish on a plate that looks like a boat. Francis’ dedication to his craft has garnered recognition beyond Uganda’s borders. He has established partnerships with numerous local businesses and even secured a partner in New York, USA. Last year, a remarkable opportunity arose when the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and antiquities selected him to represent the country at an international trade fair in Portugal. This experience not only expanded his network but also opened doors for future collaborations.

They utilize sustainable raw materials and maintain a commitment to organic and natural elements.
How Francis gives back to the Community:
Much as Francis Opiyo desires to succeed in his business, he is also passionate about the community from where he hails. Having grown up in Gulu , Bobi Paidwe, Francis witnessed abject poverty affecting the village. In his business, he labors to empower marginalised youth in the area, training them in woodwork. He also champions environmental initiatives such Tree planting in the area.
Challenges and a Bright Future:
Francis Opiyo acknowledges the challenges faced by Ugandan businesses, including a lack of exposure among some community members and unrealistic expectations from some young people. However, he remains optimistic about the future, envisioning a significant economic impact for Uganda with the creation of more job opportunities.
